One of the many restaurant in Sri Petaling. But what so special about it ???? Well for a start it boast to have a chef who claims he is the runner-up in some world cooking competition with his creation of his special Lamb chop ...but seriously its unheard of !!! And no insignia or pictures to back up his claim.....But it taste kinda good never the less with some of his dishes on offer which is different from what you would get outside.

The dish I enjoyed the most. Goes well with steam white rice. Braised baby duck with preserved radish ( mooy Choy )

Deep fried stuffed Pigs Intestine. Crispy minus the smell and taste usually associated with tai cheung.

The much bragged about lamb chop. A chinese western fusion style. Tender with hints of pepper and sweet plum sauce . Not too bad..but aint world class winner.

This s one of the few international acclaimed restaurants featured in the exclusive Dining on ^th at Pavillion, and we do expect good food from this, but we were wrong. We planned to celebrate mothers day at Li Jin next door, but unfortunately a wedding banquet was going on so we settled for Silkroad which is just located nextdoor.

Firstly the interior was interesting..kudos to the ID !!

8 treasure tea , as normally served in Silkroad journey. Consist of tea, red dates, wolfberries, dried longan , almond , walnut and dried raising. Tasted sweet at first and the taste changes each time. RM5/cup. I'll stick back to normalpu-ergh tea..............

As per the captain's Mr SIVA, recommendation we went for their house specialities. BTW I've been wondering why A Sichuan reataurant captain isnt a Chinese ?????? Sorry I'm no trying to be a racist , but just wondering. He's a friednly chap though.

Sichuan Sour and spicy soup. Taste rather bland and isnt exciting enough. Dragon I's win hands down. A real let down at RM12/bowl.

Fried prawns with wasabi and sweet potato ( RM 43). BTW whats wasabi doing in Sichuan cooking ?? Anyway its nice as the prawns is fresh and succulent.

Deep fried chicken with dried red chillies. Typical sichuan dish. RM 27.

A letdown..Mapoh tofu. Maybe it isnt to my liking

Customary green. Stir fried french beans ( RM20 )

Their award winning dish from Singapore Silkroad. Deep fried cod with Sichuan sauce ( RM 48.80). This resembles more of sweet and sour sauce...nice though but nothing Sichuan in it.
The freshness of the fish saves the day.

There has been numerous writeups on how great this restaurant is , but IMHO its not worth another return visit due to its high price and so so only food. Maybe I'm not an expert in Sichuan cuisine to pass a comment but couldnt the whole family of us agree that it isnt worth another visit.

Was having my lunch this afternoon when my phone rang. It was a call from a Hire Purchase officer from a bank. He was gonna interview me over a car loan which I applied 4 days ago....

BANK : Hey afternon Mr Tan..I am XXXX from XXXX bank....calling you referring a car loan you applied.

ME : Ok........

BANK : You ask for 20,000 for 5 years right ??? Ok can I ask you some question ??

ME : No need, Affin bank called me on Tuesday afternoon and by Tuesday evening called me again , saying that my loan already been approved..... You now only call argh ???? I oledi sign da agreement yesterday leow and getting my car on Monday wei.........

BANK : Aiyor , boss ..you should call me mar on Wednesday morning mar..give XXXXXX bank a change to serve you...since I see your last few cars loan also get from us...somemore your record so good...very easy approve wan.

ME : Excuse me........, you should be the one to be calling me..not me calling u wei.... I am the customer u know ?? And I also not really so desperate to get a loan from you... until I need to call up the bank and follow up my loan status u know ??....which ever bank approve first I take lar...... Somemore as you say my loan records with XXXX bank is so good, always early settlement wan...you no need vet n wait few days baru call me issit ?? Can approve on the spot also........

She has been with me for close to 5 years and has been working hard to please me. She has been with me , traveling with me thru hard and smooth journeys, but she is getting old. She has also been starting to give me problems and starting of showing signs serious health problems with hefty bills to pay. Of all , I wanted a new younger wife with a body to show , as I wanted to be young again !!!!

Wantan mee , Tengkat Tong Shin,KL

Getting to this wantan mee stall is like a cat and mouse game, . Sometimes they open and sometimes he choose to close, so better try your luck ! This uncle's wantan mee is reputated to be one of the best around in KL at night , and he wouldnt open till 10pm. Spotting him is easy, try to look for an old Volvo parked by the roadside opposite Alsson Genesis Hotel.

Do not expect a wonderful set-up , as its located by the five foot way and by the roadside opposite a construction site. Prepare to share tables with other similar hungry diners as tables and chairs are limited.

Yummylicious wantan mee . Topped with some minced pork and charsiew . The al-dante noodles are really delicious bath in the chef special sauce mix. Prepare to wait at least 30 minutes for your order !!!

Location : Directly opposite Allson Genesis Hotel in Tengkat Tong SHin. That the road behind Jalan Alor . Same road as Ngau Kee beef noodles, just further up about 200 metres on the left, by the corner.

Coliseum Cafe , the grand old dame of Kuala Lumpur

With 88 years of history in Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman , the restaurant is already a grandpa in Malaysia's culinary scene. Its also reputated as the first western restaurant here in Malaysia. But the rowds that throngs the eatery , inclydes the young and contemporary , rich and famous , royalties and foreigners. Which includes Selangor royalty and Malaysia's promonent cartoonist , Datuk Lat, which cartoon often sets itself here in Coliseum.

Apart from regular dining tables, there is also a bar and a lounge at one end of the cafe. One wall of the lounge is heavily decorated with old newspaper clippings that go as far back as the 1920s. It also has framed caricatures of well-known regulars, courtesy of Lat.

The café’s exterior may be stained and cracked with age and the passing of time, but step into the place, and one will discover that this is part of the charm that makes this Grand Dame of Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman a favourite, generation after generation.At first glance, the Coliseum Cafe appears to be just another traditional coffee shop. In fact, the cafe is heavily influenced by English culture, so much so that people have said that it’s like walking into a Somerset Maugham short story. Some might also imagine that it resembles a western bar from the front façade.

The place has been decent, dependable and unoretentious for the past 88 years. The sands of time have not soiled its nostalgic charm. You can almost breath its colonial charm as you walk into the Coliseum Cafe and be greeted by waiters as old as the place. You wont find any low cholestrol choices peppering its menu , as once you tasted the food , it can make one quickly forget about the calorie.

Still the old fashion bread being served here.

Sizzling sirloin with mushroom sauce.

Sizzling Steak Chateaubriand steak. The most expensive on the menu at RM60 ! But the tenderness is out of this world !!!!!!! But prefer the fillet steak for the flavour. The Chateaubriand steak is a cut from the head of tenderloin .

Inchi Kabin, fried nyonya chicken. The looks can be deceiving. Wait till you sink your mouth into this succelent and juicy pieces of dry on the outside, juicy inside chicken !!!

Crab au gratin , Their infamous stuffed crab !!

First the plate is warm under hot fire.

Slab a piece of butter on top....ssshhhhhhhh......let it melt n place the steak on top.

Pour in the sauce of choice....enjoy the sound....
Voila !!! Done..set back relax n enjoy the signature sizzling steak here !!

Pork Mix Soup ( Chu Chap Tong )

You hardly find it this days . Its sinfully high in cholestrol and sodium for the health consious,but who cares ??? It was like striking lottery when I came across this stall selling Chue Chap Tong , which is a salted vegetable ( Kiam Chye ) based soup with pork and its spare-parts ( internal organs ) like intestines, tongue , lung , heart and stomach. Some even offered pigs blood as a standard offering.

Served with a bowl of rice , its a complete meal of its own . Perfect for a rainy day !!! This stall in Kota Kemuning, Shah Alam serves with cuts of white-tofu , tomatoes and of all..pork balls. Its kinda weird , but I'll prefer pigs blood in it for the extra oommph . Just with a tinge of saltiness from the kiam chye, this soup is addictive !! For RM5/ per serving what can you ask for more ???

LOcation : Restoran Poh Yap, Kota Kemuning. Its opposite McDonalds and just behing EON BANK.

Location : From Kesas highway towards Pulau Indah direction. Take the first turning after Proton's factory. The exit is clearly marked Kota Kemuning. At the round about, take 3 oclock turn , and you would see McDonalds in the right. Turn in at the junction , the restaurant is on the left, located behind EON BANK.

Wimax vs TMNet test 2 : Living room

As said, a test would be done at the living room which is more open than my room , facing the window and the recommended direction. Still Streamyx beats Wimax hands down .

I even get 1.56mbps in my living room ! Higher than the 1mb i subscribed.

And the much acclaimed revolutionary Wimax managed...................

P1 Wimax vs TM Net Streamyx test

Much has been said about the revolutionary Wimax from Packet One Network ( P1) . Recently I've has been having problems accessing to Streamyx . Speed was slow and at times I couldnt even connect to the net. This prompted me to give the P1 Wimax a try.

Was preety excited when I got my own Wimax modem yesterday and immediately tested out the connection but to my dismay it didnt live up to my expectation. Wimax 1.2 Mb package , connection was slow and unstable.

Test was done via an independant test server at speedtest.net and at P1 own speedometer test in its own homepage. Using a KL based server as a test bed, Streamyx is the clear winner with speed up to 2 1/2 times faster than Wimax. The Wimax was tested in my room, as its where I surf the most. However to be fair, another test would be done in my living room facing the direction recommended by P1.

My humble verdict : Whether you like it or not , Streamyx remains the clear winner in internet surfing speed in the comfort of my room, due to its landline. To be fair, Wimax is a wireless broadband service and I am trying it out in my own room, and not as per their recommendation at an open area facing the recommended position, in this case South . It may be excellent surfing in a open area , but as I said I mostly spend my time surfing in my room. I can be carrying the P1 modem around my house and surf right ?????

PS : This test is purely done on my own accord and based my own opinion and doesnt reflect any bias towards any ISP.

Petronas Malaysia Grand Prix 2009.....experience

Finally after 11 years , I finally make my virgin trip to the hottest race on earth at Sepang International Circuit. Previously I would prefer to watch it at the comfort at my home sofa or lepaking at some cafe.

We also witness history of the first race in Sepang that is halted due to torrential rain which the race stewards deem too dangerous for the drivers to continue. Maybe the Tok Pawang didnt do his job well ! Also its the first F1 race that is held in the evening in Malaysia, which proves isnt a good decision afterall . The rain was so heavy that the race had to be red flagged, thanks to visibility which had dropped to near zero. The track had also become totally drenched with water. According to Button himself, “It wasn’t like it was a river out there, it was a lake!”. Hamilton said it was one of the most dangerous conditions he had ever had to race in, and all he could do was try to keep the car on track, don’t even begin to talk about actually racing yet.

Safety car out in the rain.

So it was a massively wet race, one that was made worse by the fact that it was an evening one - unlike previous years where the afternoon sun quickly dries the track. Jenson Button in his Brawn GP F1 car took the top spot again, with second place this time going to Nick Heidheld in BMW. Barrichello who came in second the last race was in 5th place. F1 big names Ferrari and McLaren continues their woes with Kvalainen retiring on the first lap.

In the end, I guess lady luck was on my side as I manage to snap a photo with Button....check this out......

CWZJ Cuisine (Tea King Restaurant,) Kuchai Lama..again.......

Makes your choice . Types of pu-ergh tea written over the Chinese fan.

Vintage Pu-ergh tea from my collection

Since I brought my friend , who I should refer here as CC once to this CWZJ once last year...she kept mentioning to me that she would bring her mum one day as her mum is also a pu-ergh tea fan ! Since her sister is back from the UK for holiday ..... we took da chance to treat her mum and her younder sister to this mecca of tea.

Started of with ABC soup with lobster head. A common soup makes special with the addition of lobster head , whole chicken leg , dried octopus , dried scallops really send the taste buds into action, savouring the sweetness of this soup. At RM38 its enough to serve almost 8 bowls .

Stir fried pork neck meat with scallops and asparagus. Slightly spicy though.
My favourite tofu dish. Steam homemade tofu with minced meat, olives and dried shrimp.

Chu Yau Char rice. Best eaten hot. SInfully fattening , not for the faint hearted with clogged arteries though . Pieces of lard are fried and mixed into the claypot rice ! RM24.

Steam Soon Hock fish. A real dissapointment. Even its cut from a 6kg fish , this Indonesian reared Soon Hock, the flesh is soft and lack the springiness that normally associated with large size Soon Hocks. Still prefer those from the rivers of Pahang.

Steamed tapioca in syrup to counter the Hypoglycemia effect of the sugar lowering effect of the raw pu-ergh tea.

This unfound gem in Kuchai Lama is one of the very few restaurants where specializes in chinese tea pu-ergh tea . Been visiting this place regularly and meeting up with the owner Joseph , and do our tea-talk...and testing various kinds of pu-ergh tea, from vintage to green ones.

Sign showing that fresh live seafood on offerings. I like the creative feel which makes you as if you are in the US of A.

Braised pork cheek in Thai sauce.

Double boil chicken soup with sharkfin, Hunan ham , scallops, mushrooms and sea whelks.

Steam pomfret in superior soya sauce.

Braised abalone with mushroom and sea cucumber. Yummy !!

Ban Lee Bah Kut Teh , Jalan Ipoh, KL

Much been written about this long standing Bah Kut Teh. Better known as Kam Seng BKT , as it is located next to the site of the old Kam Seng Cinema.Been patronising this restaurant for as long as I can remember ....not even stopping me and my BKT buddy during the JE crisis !!! I still remember a Swedish gentlleman who was attached with my dad former company, makes it a point to stop eat here whenever he is in KL.

This is one of the few places in left in KL/Klang that still heats up their BKT in claypot over charcoal fire. This old school way of serving really helps to retain the heat in the earth claypot, unlike some other BKT operators who took the shortway of heating it over gas fire.

As a traditionalist in BKT, I would order the foochoks and veges seperately . As it spoils the taste of the soup if added into the claypot and boil. Well, its just my personal taste which most of the true BKT lovers would agree to. Be there early for the best cut of pork. I normally goes for their ' SAI CHI KUT"..literally as small bone in chinese. The tenderness of the falling meat is really to die for. Not forgeting the ' CHU WAN " ( knuckles ) , this is only for the dare to die and who isnt afraid of a block artery , as its full of fat. Not forgeting the stomach and intestines ! The soup is flavourful with strong herbs similar to the ones you find in Klang, but less jelak. One spoonfull would leave you asking for more !!!

Dont forget to ask for their oily rice , and mix garlic with cili padi with dark soya sauce !! You're instantly being transported to BKT heaven !

This particluar shop also operates at night, but by a different cook who is some how related to him . Have tried it too,but still thinks that the morning session operator still serves the best BKT in this area.

Location : Jalan Ipoh, just next to Dynasty Hotel.

This place also serves Sang Kwat Pou , where fresh ribs are cooked over charcoal fire for a yummyfresh BKT. Call early or prepare to wait for 45 minutes.

Tong Yuen, Port Klang , Klang

Traditionally, glutinous rice balls were made and eaten during Lantern festival (Yuan Xiao，元宵) or the st and 15th day everymonth of the lunar calender. However, these days you are able to get it at certain hawker stalls as they are selling it as a dessert or tong shui. However its not an easy task to find in KL nowadays.

The normal glutinous rice balls are plain rice balls made from flour and water. However there are also the larger ones where red bean paste, ground black sesame seed paste or chopped peanuts and sugars are filled in the rice balls.

This particular stall at Port Klang reputately serves the best around. Despite its humble appearance of a small stall, it really enjoys brisk business. BY the time we were there , we are only left a few choices. Our mission to try their famous large size tong yuen with fillinh were met with ' Boh Liau " which means no more in hokkien. We were only left with the usual one in ginger syrup and some awesome dry style tong yuen machi style dessert served with grated cocunuts or chopped peanuts. No prize for guessing correctly, that we ordered both !

It's only open in the evenings, and is almost always crowded with customers, despite the location of the stall. If you don't mind sitting by the roadside, with lorries zooming past (this is Port Klang, after all), this is a must-try.

Tan Kee Popiah and Lin Chee Kang

Popiah ( spring role ) is a favourite among many for its cheap , healthy and its filling. Be it for lunch , dinner or supper , no foodcourt is without one. But a good one is hard to come by. I remember in my childhood years there is a particular famous stall in Alisan Cafe nearby Chow KIt which serves great popiah back then..and no one came close until my chance encountered with this stall In Taman Eng Ann .

At RM1.30/pc its really value intodays world. Filled with the usual ingredients like scrambled egg or tofu , braised julienned turnip ( sengkuang ) , fried onion, lettuce, taugeh . What sets it apart from the usual popiah, is with the addition of chinese pork sausage ( lap cheong ) fried pork fats ( Chu Yau Char ) and wrapped in the homemade Poh Piah skin.

One word of advice , best eaten right away or else it would turn soggy from the juiciness of the turnip. If left for too long or tapau, it would lose its character of a typical good popiah.

Was reading a buddy's blog few days ago and it reminded me of this unfateful day 14months ago , 29 Dec 07 to be exact. Yeah I want you to know brother I am facing the same problem as you do and we are on the same boat.Was ok until i read this................

" My mood fluctuated. A moment I can be as chirpy as a bird but I can be also really down on another. The moment "she" conquered my mind, I felt that way. It happened just like that. I seem to be in auto-cruise in my own world.

It had been 2 years, 2 months & 17 days. I felt lousy, I felt weak, I felt defeated. Many of times, best buddies around me who see me this way, I made them felt lousy and many of times they try to wake me up by putting knife after knife into my mentality but thus far, no one had really manage to mend the wound I am nursing. Guys, sorry I disappointed you but you are not me, you would not understand the feeling, really. I do appreciate your advices but my ears only chose what I want to hear and eliminate those I do not want to.

(Taking a deep sigh) I felt that I am being haunted, I saw someone that actually look like her, again like I said I am in my own world. Who understands this nonsensical feeling that I am enduring now? Who had been through this? Yes, again & again I hear words like, "Dude, it's not the end of the world!" Yeah, I do know that! That's why I have not even ended my own life foolishly after so long. But it is just that feeling that is haunting me. The wrongdoing of mine, the regrets & the pain. What happened to him is just the carbon copy of me. The only difference is that its been 14 month........... Yes you are right by asking me to forget her, I tried but at times its just uncontrolable. Ikan Bakar Garam Seri Kembangan

A visit here would change your mind about the humble Tilapia fish or better known as Fei Chau Yu ( literally mean African fish in Cantonese ) . As normally Tilapia fish has a rather muddy taste , much rumoured about their diet, it's usually cooked steamed in beau sauce or as Tomyam steam to mask off its taste. No one in its clear mind would grill or steam this fish, until you visit here....................

Meet Seri Kembangan's much raved and talked about Salt roasted fish, with fancy suggestive names like 雪山飞狐 ( Snow mountain flying fox ) . Its surprisingly addictive , minus the muddy smell its normally associated with. The secret is that the fish is usually reared in a seperate tank with running water and starved for a few days in order for the fish to 'cleanse ' itself internally .

Doesn' t looks inviting right ????? The salt is rubbed on the outer side and grilled over charcoal fire. The skin is later cut open to reveal a fresh n yummy flesh inside. The skin is not meant to be eaten !!!!!

Each fish is rubbed with salt and grilled over hot charcoal for 20 minutes

Warning : This sauce is seriously addicitve. Bits of mashed chilli padi in a sweet soya sauce. Just the the one you get fro the foos stalls. Just better. The fish isnt that tasty without this.

Fried salted fish. Great with the chilli sauce dip !!!!!

'Steam with chicken essense " . Its wrapped over aluminium foil and put over the charcoal fire and the heat steams it . Very tasty sauce and goes well with rice .

Expects to wait a minimum of 20 minutes for the grilled fish. We place an order by phone before coming :)- Expects to pay RM15-20/fish depending on the size. for our family of 8, we paid RM135 for 6 fish (!!) , 1 vegetable and 1 egg dish plus rice and tea.

Missed flight ????

HAve you missed your flight before ???? I nearly did when I arrived KLIA 1 1/2 hour before my flight departure to Shanghai 2 years ago. The flight was full and my seat was given to another passenger on waiting list , and being a frequent traveller with our MH programme , lucky me was upgraded to a business class :)

AN unidentified woman was travelling on a Cathay Pacific fligth from HK to San Francisco on Feb 4 , but as she was late the aircraft door was closed . As a result she put up quite a show , which was recorded and loaded onto Youtube and racked in 40,000 hits in 3 days.

So what would you do if you missed your flight ????

Daidomon - Japanese Yakiniku

I've been craving for authentic Japanese yakiniku , just like the way I have it in Japan. Been searching around but none came close and all I get is just some ciplak cheap imitations or some real good ones around which bombs a big hole in my wallet. And Daidomon was like a god sent saviour for my yakiniku cravings without burning a hole .

Since its opening in late 2008 in Great Eastern Mall, Jalan Ampang. I've made few visits to satisfy my cravings and always looking foward for the next. The quality meats on offer always to be the winning side , in my quest for a healthier living and thinking of my diet mission.Always saying to myself ... " EAT FIRST DIET LATER " But arent Japanese cuisine are always a healthier alternative ???????? Grill meat minus the oils ??? Yes its healthy !!!

You can order fresh sashimi from the menu too when you order their Yakiniku buffet. Just simply loves the thick cuts of salmons, maguro and butterfish. Also available are Tai's and tako .

Freshly made nigiri sushi's are also on the offer for those who cant make it without rice. Also varieties of side dishes on offer too. I normally skip this ones to save my tummy space for these......

Huge fresh scallops and sea prawns.

..... and oysters which you simmer in butter.

Gyutan ( toungue ). This plate easily cost RM20 in other Japanese restaurants.I get to do it bottomless here.

Honetsuki Karubi, belly tender with ribs .

Each table is fitted with a charcoaled fired pit. Its frequently changed to ensure hygenines. It uses a special type pr charcoal which maintains its heat even after long hour of burning and it wont breakdown to ashes. An powerful exhaust fan is also inside the pit table to ensure that the smoke and smell are well taken care of and wont leave you greasy like conventional BBQ does.

Can you resist it ????

For RM68++ per pax , the yakiniku buffet on offer is really a steal . For the amount you get really good cuts of meat , plus bottomless sashimi's , soups , tempura's, sushi's and many other choices, making it a complete Japanese cuisine experience by itself. It also serves shabu-shabu , but it is understood that the choices isn't as much as the yakiniku's offer. They also serve wagyu beef here , but hehe its a side order and not included in the buffet menu.

And yes..its ditanggung halal too .

Time for giving and sharing...

CNY is a time for giving and sharing. Charities work and visit surges during this time. Nevertheless we took the opportunity to visit Ti-Ratana Welfare Society in Desa Petaling on the 7th day of CNY lately. Thanks to my generous friend Cat , for organizing this trip.

There are many less fortunate people around us everyday. Often, a lot of us turn a blind eye to their existence because it made our lives easier not to care, for some it’s just plain ignorance.

Despite many out there who is already helping and care enough to understand and offer help to these people, help… is never enough.

On my previous visit to the orphanage, I have grown a liking to most of the kids there. They warmed my heart like no other but at the same times, it breaks my heart too.

Ti-Ratana houses about 200 childrens and close to about 100 old folks .

Frankly this isnt the first time I've visited Ti-Ratana , but this trip really leaves a deep impression on me . Previously under the banner of Lion Club of Damansara , my dad has organized several celebrations there on a bigger scale, but not much is mingling is done with the childrens. But this trip is less formal and we are much more freeier to move about at our own pace.

This little boy was recently abandoned by his parents and left at a babysitter who then sent him here. He was keeping himself away from others and was a little wary and skeptical about me at first. And finally when we left, he smiled at me and wave at me..that really left a deep impression on me . Just why their parents are doing this ???? Leaving their children ....

Volunteers are welcome to help out here. You can either contribute by baby sitting , giving tuition or just helping out here with their everyday chores. All you need is just to keep in touch with them and register yourself as a volunteer. Click here for further information in how you can be a volunteer.

Most of the people usually donated essentials items like rice being the most common thing. However most of this charity organisation has overstocks of rice. We may also donate other items like snacks , chocolates , stationaries and other essentials. Ti-Ratana also came out with a wish list where we can choose to donate items which they may need.

Give this little angels a new lease of life . Give them care , love and lend them support and light their heart .

Pai Tin Kung , Hokkien thanksgiving day

Yesterday marks the 9th day of CNY in the lunar calender. Its also the time for Hokkien Chinese community , to celebrate the Jade Emperors birthday or Tin Kong Seh . Common believe also that the Hokkiens in Fujian province survived a prosecution from the Sung Dynanty soldiers by hiding in the sugar cane plantation on Chinese New Year for nine days, and they came out unharmed on Jade Emperors birthday and they believed that its been protected by the Jade Emperor. That also explains why sugarcane is a must in this ceremony.

More than 20 food offerings are offered to appease to Jade Emperor , also knows as Tian Kung. This includes 5 types of fruits , 6 types of vegetarian items and 3 meat dishes comprising chicken , fish and pork. Sweets cakes like ang ku , fatt koh are also being offered together with pineapples and sugarcanes as well as 3cups of chinese tea and 5 cups of rice wine.

Kam Chu ( or golden pig/ roast pork ) are offered depending on budget. Some offer cuts of a roast pork while some offered the whole pig.

Hard boiled red eggs and mee suah and noodles are must have items , as this dishes are traditionally served during birthday.These offerings are then arranged in a certain order in red tables facing the main gate. Normally ritual would start after midnight.

Joss papers included kim jua ( gold paper ) , paper houses featuring designs like dragons, the 8 immortals or pheonix are then burned as an offering to give thanks and seek his blessings in return.

Tg Tualang River prawns

The prawns here lured us back to Tanjung Tualang for another round of the famous big head river prawns . River prawns lovers would mind driving almost 2 hours to get their fix . This sleepy town located about 45 minutes from Ipoh , comes alive every weekend and during public holidays as prawn lovers from near and afar makes their way here and its every prawn lovers dream to be greeted by rows and rows of restaurants proudly display their prawns on the walkways to lure you in.

Being the 6th day of CNY and felt a little bored from the usual CNY programme , we headed down to Tg Tualang to meet another 2 couples on their way back to KL from Penang for our fix. Since we were early and ahead of schedule , me and my kaki makan fren decided to start our makan trip early by stopping in Bidor for wantan mee for part 1 of our makan trip !!

This particular wantan mee is much better than the much famous Pun Chun. Flavourful noodle which is cooked al dante , and each wantan comes with whole prawns . But doesnt comes cheap even with KL standard's at RM4 for a small serving and each wantan cost 50 cents each.

And after our initial stop we finally makes our way to Tg Tualang , the mecca of river prawns.

First stop was Sun Swee Kiong based on some recommendations from a friend.

This steam Pak Soukung ( Catfish ) was really fresh and firm at the belly side . Indicating that this is a true river fish and not the reared ones.

Fried petai with sambal and cuttlefish. This is really good with fragrant belacan and not too spicy

What was supposed to the star of the day turns out to be a failure. This ' Kon Cheen' fried prawns was rather bland . Would be much better with a little more saltiness and sweetness from the caramel. But the firm flesh of the giant prawns saved the day.

The heads didnt turned out perfect either. Could be better with a little more Shiau Hing wine . Another failure is that, steam prawns shouldnt comes with chinese parsley as it spoils the natural sweetness of the prawns. Spring onions would be a much better choice. However the creamy roe was really nice .

Just to show you how big the prawn head really is .

Steam crabs. Remember parsley doesnt goes with prawns and crabs !!!!! Wasnt flavourful and the chef kinda of stingy on the Shiu Heng wine I guess.

Overall this restaurant is a failure in my list except if you really want to have a good plate of petai, IMHO i would skip this restaurant and get back to restaurant we frequent normally. It doesnt comes cheap either. The bill comes up to RM 407 for 7 of us . The 7 prawns already cost RM280 !!!!!

And guess what we did after the dissapointing meal just now ??? We headed for another round of steam prawns at Sun Mee Fong !!!! To locate this restaurant isnt hard , just look out for this sign.

Even Ah Xian gives his thumb of approval. Check it out here.

Good steam prawns no need to be huge !! This medium size was allright as the meat was fresh n firm to every bite. Most importantly is that there is spring onion to add sweetness and fragrant as well as sufficient of Shiu Hsing wine in steaming the prawns. This dish get everyones thumbs up approval. And yes we only ordered just one dish here !!!!!! And we all left satisfied for just RM70.

We all left fully satisfied and decided to stroll along this sleepy town and came across this particular stall which sells freshly baked Sak Keh Mah.

Freshly baked Sak Keh Mah, was really a treat for the nose !!

Directions :

Using PLUS highway from KL towards Ipoh direction take the Tapah exit and drive towards Kampar town. Look out for a Petronas station on your right prior reaching Kampar town . Take a left turn at the traffic light. Drive further 2 km and you should see the sign board which reads Tronoh Mines/ Tg Tualang. Turn right and drive all the way straight passing thru some small villages before reaching Kg Timah. At the T junction turn right and continue driving for another 4 to 5 km and you would reach Tg Tualang .

As Chinese New Year comes near , reunion dinners are common. And this time is just among a bunch of our old friends . With different venues each year, but we seems to be stuck back with restaurants under the Oriental Group banner, and this time is at Ming Room , Bangsar Shoping Center. For those not sure, this group also operates the famed Noble Huse and Noble Banquet restaurants in KL.

Salmon yeesang to start off the dinner .

Braised sharkfin soup in claypotThai style . Its served in individual claypot with combs of intact shark fins , conpoy and crabmeats with optional beansprouts for added crunch. To spice upthis great dish , you just need a dash of the fiery hot Thai style green chili sauce which really compliments this dish very well.

BBQ suckling pig. Crispy till the last piece !!!

Baked white tuna fish with Miso paste. The miso paste lends its saltiness to compliments this white meat fish perfectly without over powering the natural sweetnessof the tuna. Topped with some fried foochok pieces for added crunch and served on a bed of french beans tossed in garlic sauce.

Braised abalone with dried seafood in winter melon. A must dish in traditional CNY dinner as it symbolics abundance of wealth as well as the mini fresh abalones also looks like gold nuggets from the olden China. And flavourful from the dried seafood lends its taste to the otherwise humble oyster sauce sauce.

Braised egg noodles with eggplant and minced meat.

Delicious Tang Yuen with black sesame fillings in ginger flavoured syrup.

The 10 of us were really filled to the brim after the dinner. At RM988 ++ this set dinner is really worth the money for the quality of food served and the environment . IMHO, its much more value money than out earlier suggestion Ah Yat Abalone Forum , which cost more with a much smaller serving.

And i really look foward to my mums birthday dinner which is coming up soon , at Ming's Room again.

Tan family reunion 2009

It been our family tradition over the years where the entire Tan family would get together for our yearly CNY reunion dinner. But this year was an early one, one the 1st January actually, which also coincidently is my aunties wedding anniversary !

As the most senior and head of the Tan family now, my dad giving a little speech for the entire families from near and afar from Singapore , UK , Korea , Czech Republic and Germany .

Start with the traditional way of tossing our salmon yeesang with good words and wishes .

Superior 5 seasons platter with dried scallops, abalone , fresh scallops , crab balls and fried fillet.

Being a traditional chinese dinner, sharkfins soup with crab meat is next. Sorry to all the activist, this is just too good to be given up !!!!!!!

Alot of hardwork gone into this dish , where a mixture of fish and prawn paste is pumped into the entire chicken , which the meat was earlier filleted out leaving the skin intact only.

Money that is lost can still be replaced, but not trust and feelings. The damage is already done...and this time it has gone too far.............

Hopefully you've know what is right and what is wrong and the consequences of your actions and the pains and agony that is brought to your loved ones..... Just hope that you would wake up and do the necessary.

Minimizing the risk in blogging .....

BLOGGING has become the new way of life of Malaysians. It is without doubt a new form of media where a large number of the public refer to these days in addition to the mainstream media.

With this comes responsibility. It is settled that bloggers are liable for what they say and for what other people post on their blogs. The following laws are applicable to bloggers:

> Civil and criminal defamation;

> Sedition;

> Communication and Multi- media Act 1998; and,

> Copyright infringement.

The above list is not exhaustive and it is hoped that the following will serve as a short guide to minimise the risks of blogging.

One of the most common actions brought against website owners (which include a blogger) is a defamation suit. The definition of defamation is not a static concept.

It has been defined that a statement may be defamatory when it tends “to lower a person in the estimation of right-thinking members of society generally” or “to cut him off from society” or “to expose him to hatred, contempt or ridicule”.

Defamatory statements may not only arise from written postings but also from videos (embedded in the blog), pictures/drawings/graphics, sound and even hyperlinks. Recent- ly, a Malaysian High Court held that a website owner is liable for a hyperlink posted by a commentor that links to a website containing a defamatory statement.

The consequence of being liable for defamation is grave. It can drain you financially and make you a bankrupt. It can even put you in jail if it falls under criminal defamation. Even a food review blogger can be subject to a defamation suit. Thus to avoid such problems, the following steps are recommended:

> Avoid potentially defamatory statements;

> Moderate comments;

> Identification of commentor’s details;

> Warning to commentors;

> Disclaimer;

> Disable Cache; and,

> Anonymity.

The most obvious, and the most important, step to take from being slapped with defamation action is to avoid defamatory statements.

Always ensure that what you write is true. If you are unable to verify the truth of a statement on your blog, junk it. Avoid criticising other people on your blog, as sometimes the criticism can be taken as defamatory.

Another type of entry you should avoid is rumour-based entries. It is advisable not to repeat a rumour made by others, unless you can prove it.

As mentioned earlier, what got many website owners into trouble is what their readers posted. And website owners are liable for comments made by other parties published on their website.

In this regard, website owners can be subject to an application to the court compelling them to reveal the identity of the commentor. It should not be much of a problem to website owners to reveal the identity, but sometimes the order goes a bit further than that.

For example, there were cases where website owners were compelled to reveal Malaysian identity card numbers of their commentors, and also slapped with costs payable to the complainant.

Thus, it is useful to set up a system to filter comments and require commentors to register themselves before they can submit comments. Alternatively, the website owner may have in place a stringent ap- proval system where comments will only be posted upon approval.

Further, you may also reveal the details of the commentors such as their Internet Protocol (IP) address, time of posting and e-mail address on the website upon the posting of the comment.

By revealing such details, the commentors can be traced through their Internet service provider, etc. This may restrain commentors from posting malicious comments.

It would also be useful to place a warning stating that commentors are liable for what they say or that you will reveal their details to the authorities upon request. The warning can be fortified with a disclaimer, which could be useful to discourage defamatory statements.

The disclaimer can go along these lines: “The comments contained on this blog reflect the views of the author and do not in any way represent that of the owner of this blog.” This serves as notice that the views of the commentors are not shared by the blogger.

Many consider websites such as WayBack Machine and Google Cache as God‘s gifts to computer geeks. These websites keep a record of your website and are quite useful when you lose the contents of your website. You can retrieve some of your lost documents from there.

But this also means that anyone can retrieve anything deleted from your website, including defamatory statements that had been removed. But not to fear, for there is also a special option where you can stop these websites from keeping a record of your website.

If all the above fail to avoid a letter of demand or you just wish to have a carefree blog, then try blogging anonymously. This would include setting up a blog using a pseudonym with no trace of the person’s identity on the blog. Some do it for their own protection, and some do it so that they cannot be found.

Although distasteful, this allows bloggers to avoid being discovered and to post entries without any restriction. But if caught, they will suffer grave repercussion. In a recent Canadian court decision, anonymous electronic postings of defamatory material were not only actionable but would also warrant a high damages award.

With the upcoming High Speed Broadband (HSBB) rollout, we can expect more content-rich blogs. With this, the dissemination of information may expand to methods which are unknown to us now. There will therefore be new laws and challenges ahead.

The director of Dragon Tiger Gate makes his comeback with his usual star, Donnie Yen. As expected, the martial arts fighting scenes are amazing. This director is amazing, he knows how to direct realistic martial arts fighting features in Dragon Tiger Gate. This guy can create, I can say, some of best martial arts movies. With Samo Hung as martial director..you can be sure !!

The story: It tells about Ip Man's life, the soon-to-be master of the famous Bruce Lee. I can't say much about the plot but the fighting and the music are great. The Japanese soon attacks China which affects Ip Man and his family.From a wealthy highly respected Kung fu master in FuShan to a general worker in coalmine. Soon, he goes for a fight, organised by the Japanese, which can earn him bags of rice. And subsequently he beaten up a colenel whom has has liking to his beautiful wife, and later he was wanted by the Japanese goverment. The Japanese General is impressed by his ability which leads to the final battle of all.

Overall: If you are a martial arts movie fan, this is definitely stunning and not to be missed. If you get entertained by any form of action and want to know the facts of Bruce Lee's master, this should also not be missed. Another good martial arts movie.

Hokkien Mee at Jalan Pudu

This charcoal fired Hokkien mee stall has been around for many years and has been my favourite haunt after clubbing during our younger days. At that time its crew was 2 elderly staff , whom is preety actsy. You sit down and wait for your turn to order...he would come to you snd take your order. He would tell you that waiting time is an hour..if cant wait nevermind. Coz its one of the best, if not the best Hokkien Mee stall in the whole of KL.

The Hokkien mee here really stands out from the others. Thick fat yellow noodles are coated with the luscious and flavourful thick soya sauce , brimming with slices of pork, livers, prawns and vegetables and topped with fried pork lards.Its great on its own,but there is also a small bowl of sambal belachan for whom like to spice things up. And yes, the chef only cooks certain portions at a time, to prepare to wait. Because all cooking are cooked using charcoal and not gas, as it somehow or rather taste a lot better . A hokkien mee aficionados would tell you this !!!

Other good eats are their loh meen , Bak Gau ( slices of pork coated with tapioca flour and vegetables soup) and their Dried fried Kuey Tiao. It takes lot of skill to fry this Kuey Tiao correct.Not too oily and not too dry.

But one word.....prepare to wait !!!

Directions : Its located few doorstep away from Fei Por Kai restaurant along Jalan Pudu. Its just opposite the famous Pudu Curry Fish Head / Farmland steamboat restaurant.

If turning in from Pydu Jail/Times square junction. Go further up and make a U-turn at the first traffic light. Its hard to turn here, so turn in at the Caltex instead. Then you would see MIDOR interior on your right. The stall is just beside here.

Yes at times , I've been hating you and angry at you for all this. But most of the time, I've been missing you and longing for your return . When I asked you lately whether things can turn out better for both of us... you just said no for reasons only known to yourself.

Do you know how's the feeling inside ? The pain and agony inside it. Crying yourself to sleep ? Gazing at the stars above wondering what you are doing there, whether you are all right, have you eaten ? Wondering did your gastric comes back ?????

Part 2 of my Guinness Infused Festive menu brought me to Ronnie Q , Bangsar on this Christmas Day. Its Been around since the early 90's long during Bangsar's heyday as the to be seen place back then.

The pork chop was kinda tasty but we found the chop a bit too salty, but luckily it was neutralized by the more subtle Guinness infused brown sauce. Luckily the chicken chop turned out better, as it was well marinated and juicy and less salty.....

Guinness Infused Christmas at Michelangelo,Solaris KL

SOHO at Solaris KL has been developing preety fast to be next to be seen place in KL, much merrier when I first step foot into this new place few months back . From a piece of swampy land ( many would have remember the short cut from Segambut heading out to Jalan Duta in the mid 90's filled with pot holes and overgrown lalangs ) to where it is today, mushrooming up with clubs and fine dining restaurants and not forgetting the mamak's.

Being a new hip area..canggih restaurants cant be left out right ? And Michelangelo is one of them.Its been around for a few month , yet this is the first time I step my foot into this Italian eatery for the Guinness Festive Promotion where every dishes ordered from this special Guinness infused menu comes with a pint of this good black gold stuff :)-

Thanks to Jane for bringing up the idea in Facebooks Guinness Draught fans page we made or way there before it end on 31 December 2008.It was kinda last minute but we managed to get a few good company to join us that night. Thanks Jane , Michael , Simon , Ren and Lynndy for making it . And guess what , Lynddy and Mike were long lost college mate back in Melaka !!!

And we ordered every single item here !!!

Food was kinda good here, minus the slow service and unattentive staff. Imagine waiting for 1 1/2 hours to get our meal served was ridicolous !!!!

The mushroom and chicken soup was a let down. Campbell soup does better !!

A toast was made,can you guess whose hand are in there ????

Finally it came after 11/2 hrs of waiting. Stuffed quail with Foei Gras. Its a creation of Emmanuel Stroobant. If you dont know who he is ? Maybe "The Chef in Black" might ring a bell in you. Luckily it made the grade.

Lobster with Squid Ink pasta. The home made pasta was made al-dante and tossed in garlic and olive oil. Preety yummy here too.

Angelo's style braised chicken leg. I never liked chicken..but this tops my list. Tender and moist with a sweet Guinness infused sauce. And we tossed some of the remaining pasta onto the sauce for a yummy finish !!

Braised beef ribs. Pieces of ribs braised in Guinness infused sauce , so tender that the meats literally melts in your mouth. Jane's favourite for the night.

Guinness Stout marinated codfish. The fish was baked to perfection and was fresh and juicy. The highlight is the sauce which is slightly sweet similar to the Chicken Legs's sauce. I would rate this as the joint winner tonight.

And they even throw in free limited edition miniatures Guinness pint glasses.

Over all we all did enjoyed the dinner experience with Guinness , with the bill coming up to about RM350 inclusive of all the taxes and 2 soups we ordered. Not really expensive , taking into considerations the amount of effort putting into preparing every dishes individually upon order.

Living Food Lam Mee, Damansara Uptown

Living Food has been around here in Damansara Uptown since the early 90's. Being a part of the famed May King restaurant in Pudu , lam mee is naturally their signature dish. Lam Mee lovers in KL, would have know May King as the Mecca of Lam Mee, where the best lam mee can be found in the whole of KL, if not Malaysia.

The full bodied gravy sets the lam mee apart from others ciplak imitation. Bursting with flavour made out of chicken and prawn stock, the thick gravy coats every strands of noodle and garnished with some shreaded steamed chicken and shelled prawns. For added kick, throw in some of their hot and fiery chilli sauce.

Their meatballs are also well known. Its not your usual run of the mill type, as its fully homemade unique to May King's family. Its a combination of pork, fish and cuttlefish. It really has a chewy texture bursting with the saltiness of the dried cuttlefish..its really a match made in heaven.

For non Lum Mee lovers , their curry laksa is also worth trying. And dont forget the fried foochok and dumplings .

He /She's hurt you badly. You've had sleepless night thinking about her/him , you've been thinking what has you done wrong , why it all ended so suddenly , dreaming of getting together again. Youve cried yourself to sleep .

Missing him/her , soon turns into hate and anger. You've hated them for dumping you and angry at the damage they has done to your personal life , and the mess he/she has put you in. Also for the tears you shed and the pain in your heart that nobody seems to understand .

You've shun family outings , as seeing your sibling happily with their love ones laughing away with your family , reminds you of the happier times when you were together.

Then after a while the hate and anger is gone and at times turns into missing them badly and thinking of them during special days like your birthday , his/hers birthday . Also feeling sad and bad that you never receive anything them on your birthday. Its not the gift that you is after, but a simple SMS greeting for you would be sufficient . Its the thought that counts.

Then after a while you met him/her back and suddenly realized that how much you've miss them all this while. Thoughts and memories of the happier times kept coming back in your mind, even when you are talking and chit chatting with him/her.

What does that means ???? Are we still missing them ?????? Thoughts of getting back together cant escape playing back in your mind. Don't tell me now. I am sure everyone of us would feel the same . No matter how strong a man may be, he would still be a victim of a simple thing call L-O-V-E.

But further thought of how thing turned out before seems to deter things to further happen. Comments from friends how unsuitable them are for you is is left unhindered. You are afraid that history would replay itself again. But in your heart you still miss them..this is for sure.

The final question that keep playing in your mind is that , would you try to go back to your ex ???????

HAPPY DONG ZHI (WINTER SOLSTICE FESTIVAL)

Its the time of the year again. Dong Zhi ( 冬至 ) is the second most important festival of the Chinese calendar, after Chinese New Year.

Celebrated on the longest night of the year, Dong Zhi is the day when sunshine is weakest and daylight shortest. The coming of winter is celebrated by families and is traditionally the time when farmers and fishermen gather food in preparation for the coming cold season. It is also a time for family reunions.

This celebration can be traced to the Chinese belief in yin and yang, which represent balance and harmony in life. It is believed that the yin qualities of darkness and cold are at their most powerful at this time, but it is also the turning point, giving way to the light and warmth of yang. For this reason, the Dong Zhi Festival is a time for optimism.

One thing is that Dong Zhi is always celebrated approximately between 21-13 December every year.

One important things that is not to be missed is eating TONG YUEN, where various colours gloutinous rice balls are cooked in a syrup flavoured in ginger. Here is a step by step guide on how to make a good TONG YUEN. Eating Tang Yuen is important in the Chinese tradition as it also signifies that we are a year older after eating this. Also Tang Yuen sounds similarto " Tuen Yuen " which literally means family reunion in Mandarin. Thats why traditional chinese makes it a tradition to be back and have a reunion dinner together on this day.

On this day also we use to pray and offerings are made to our ancestors. We've cooked spring rool, Chicken soup with abalone and dried scallops , fried vegetabeles, fried prawns , fish and steamed chicken. And what I like best is the roast pork which is a must on a special occasion or during festivals.

I like mine served warm with chilli sauce dipping.

Since opening its door in 1977, Sri Inai has been a household name as one of the first few prestigous private schools in Malaysia, where children on royalties , politicians, ministers and prominent business man studied and graduated thru its door , carrying with them knowledge we learn with them. I was one of them..

Many celebrities and famous people were product of this school. Linda Hashim , Shirley Leong , Yasmin Hani, Chico , Fera Annuar just to name a few. I even has the YDMM Sultan of Pahang's niece as my class mates before, so as Tun Hussein's Onn's grandson and Tun Awang's grandson.

Sadly the school closes its door for the last time today. Below is a news paper report which came out in The Star not too long ago..notifying of its dooms day.

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 170 students from Sekolah Sri Inai here are in a lurch after the school gave notice of closure beginning Jan 1.

At least 12 teachers of the school located in Jalan Ulu Klang, Ampang, are also expected to be jobless.

It is learnt that school co-founder and executive chairman Datuk Alias Shamsuddin sent letters to parents two days ago informing them of the closure, citing poor student enrolment these past few years which had put the school in financial distress.

In the letter made available to The Star, Alias expressed regret, adding that the school administration would assist parents to enrol their children in other schools.

Many parents said the last-minute announcement was unfair. Several of them met with Alias at the school yesterday.

“Two of my sons will be sitting for the PMR and UPSR next year. The change in schools will affect them and may disrupt their studies,” vented Mohd Taufik Nordin, a 47-year-old businessman, in a phone interview.

An annoyed S.S. Maran, 38, said he was only given the letter after collecting his son’s report card.

“Even though the letter said the staff would help find replacement schools for the children, there is no assurance.

“Moreover, the transfer will take time and is subject to the Education Ministry’s approval,” he said.

A teacher, who declined to be named, expressed shock when she learnt of the school’s closure on Friday, saying she did not know where to find a job.

However, she was more concerned for the students because they might find it difficult adjusting in a new school.

Deputy Education Minister Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong said the school had given the parents a rude shock, adding that it was duty bound to help enrol the students in new schools.

He said he would channel the parents’ complaints to the Private Education Division to investigate the matter.

Sekolah Sri Inai Kuala Lumpur, established in 1977, consisted of Sri Inai Senior, Sri Inai Junior and Tadika Inai.

Its Penang and Klang branches were sold off in 1983 while the schools in Petaling Jaya were taken over by new management in 2006.

Gone were the days where we were proud to acclaimed that we were Inains. But frankly the standard drops since the late 1990's to where it is today. With the mushrooming of newer private schools in KL , experienced teachers and management staffs were pinched away , and replaced by newer one. And as a result ????????

From its hey day of over 800 students comprising of kindergarden , promary school and secondary school to the now 190+ students in total. In my time there was 5 classes in each form, now only 5 classes makes up the whole Primary school :(

It used to has branches in PJ , Penang and Ipoh . The PJ one were sold to Beaconhouse and the Penang branch was sold as well and Ipoh was closed down.

Its really sad to see this happen. FYI the school was sold to the Saudi government for a tidy sum, close to double what Beaconhouse has offered to the founder . And the $$$$$ sign eventually finally covered the eyes of the once dedicated educator , and sold to the highest bidder and evenrtually let the 31 years old name of Sri Inai slipped of this education. If he would have sold to Beaconhouse, chances is that the name Sri Inai would still remain .

But today.........its really history. Finally may all the Inaias who makes it out of the door ...wish you guys best nof luck :)

Fong Po Kuan ( DAP-Batu Gajah ) stands up to get notice in order to be seen and given a chance to speak.......... Chong Chien Jien ( DAP-Bandar Kuching ) , stood up and supported her. SO what do they get ????? They were ordered out and suspended !!!!!

" Tuan speaker, saya tidak main -main " says veteran Bukit Gelugor MP, Karpal Singh....what he gets ??? A 2 days suspension .

And on Wednesday 5th November 2008, Pasir Salak's MP Datuk Tajuddin Adbul Rahman, shouted the word Bastard, not once but twice at DAP-Ipoh Barat's MP M. Kulasegaran......what he gets ??? Congragulations to Barack Obama for being elected the 44th President of America and being the first Afro-American to do so . He is expected to take office as the new President on January 20, 2009. He also is currently the Junior United States Senator from Illinois. Obama is the Afro-American to be elected President of the United States, and was the first non-white to be nominated for President by a major U.S. political party.

Not only he's got the support of the Americans. being white or black, its great to see that he has also a huge following in Asia.

Extended family members of Barack Obama react as election results come in, at the family's homestead in Kogelo village, Kenya. Africans organized all-night parties to watch the U.S. election results roll in. Several hundred gathered in the village of Barack Obama's father cheer the election of a native son. Kenya declares Thursday a public holiday.

Even spread to Obama's former school in Jakarta

Not forgetting the local residents of Obama town in Western Japan.

On the other side , I had a laugh this morning when I saw the Star when our PM qouted that " Anyone can become PM ". That if the change the current policies that the President of UMNO would automatically become the PM !!!!!!

2008 really has been seen many changes in the world , where many histories were created. In our own beloved bolehland, its the first time the opposition denied the coalition ruling part the 2/3 majority and has a say in the parliamane, and not forgetting few days ago Lewis Hamilton also created history as being the youngest F1 champion in F1 history and also the first Afro-American F1 champion !!!!

The first sign saying that we've arrived in the historical town of Melaka...

Started our day at this humble looking shack in Jalan Bunga Raya, Melaka which serves great congee and fried shrimp wantan.

Located in Jalan Hang Lekir , Nancy's Kitchen has been a great restaurant which serves authenthic Nyonya inspired dishes.

Where fresh popiah and pai-tees are made fresh upon order

Also great Cendol and the rich Laksa Lemak.

And also tasty Nyonya Chang ( rice dumplings )

The ever popular Jonker Street. Its a saying , You havent been to Melaka if you havent been to Jonker Street

And also the Hokkien ancestors clan !!! Yeah I am a hokkien by the way.........

The charming Hotel Puri, where you are transported back to the olden days.

They even have a swallow hall, where they built their nest here.

Our day continued with dinner at Loi's Famous Beef Bah Kut Teh in Bukit Baru. Its the one and only Beef Bah Kut Teh stall here in Malaysia I suppose . Several reviews has made on this delicious soup. Click here for more reviews.

Chef Loi's in his kitchen , which is located in the yard of his home !

Its first cooked to boiling hot over slow fire before thinly sliced raw beef is added on top of the soup and served along side some raw cabbage and some 'nam yee' sauce over it. Beneath it you'ff find heaps of tender meats, beef balls, internal organs in a peppery herbal soup.

Whats better way to end the day with some satay celup as supper before we left for KL ?? We wanted to try Capitol but the crowd really put as away, as its more famous as a tourist restaurant..nevertheless we were shown to this local haunt Ban Nen Hiong in Jalan Ong Kim Wee , by a Melaka's born friend, which also serves a decent Satay celup ! Thanks Ed !!!

Satay celup is not what the name suggest. Its no where near Satay, except the sauce being a peanut based sauce which looks like satay sauce. Its basically lok-lok where you dip sticks of seafood , meat and vegetables skewers, like prawns, cockles , meat balls , fried bean curd into boling peanut sauce to cook.

Sadly this unique dish never makes it our of Melaka, as there has been few satay celup's shop in KL, but sadly none of them survives .

By the way..I blogged bout Melaka and promoted Melaka in a way to the world thru www... You think would I get a datukship from the Melaka Government argh ????

As usual I made a short one night stop over in Taipei, and this time I managed to cover the hip area of Ximending ( 西門町 ) and food haven cum bargains galore of HsinLin Night Market ( 士林夜市 ).

Ximending which is located in the Wanhua district , is also fondly known as the Harajuku of Taiwan, where you can get the hippest and trendiest fashion apparels, Japanese manga, magazines and anything to do with Land of the Rising sun .

As usual..I dont travel by Taxi in Taipei as the MRT are so ever convenient !!! Believe me, you wont get lost, just follow the colour lines !! Here in Taipei MRT, they uses a magnetic RFID coin/chip to replace a ticket which is much more environmental friendly as they are recyclyable. That is when you are entering the station, you simply scan with the chip ! And when you exit, you simply put the chip back into the gantry.

Taichung revisited

Its been countless times I've been to Taichung, but I'll never get bored as every visit is a new experience for me. As the name literally suggest , Middle of Taiwan, its located about 150kms away from Taipei ( which means Northern Taiwan ).

Basically Taichung is an industrial town, but like any other cities of Taiwan, its heritage in argicultural still lies strongly in the heart of Taiwanese. This can be seen from the amounts of paddy fields which is scattered around town,beside houses, factories and even back alleys is not spared !!

Taichung is also the home of the infamous Betelnut girls...........where scantily clad ladies does their business by cabins by the roadsides attracting passing drivers with their killer bodies, sometimes wearing nothing more than an underwear and lingerie....wait its not what you think..they are mere selling betelnuts , ciggrates and nothing more !!

Another must visit spot in Taichung is the famous FENGCHIA night market,which is just like our local pasar malam. There is a saying from a local....if you have not been to Fengchia, you havent been to Taichung !!!! Loads of yummy Taiwanese street foods can be found here, together with cheap and trendy gifts for everyone. If you want value for money shopping, here is the place .

Recommended is Yangtse River restaurant located in 16th Floor. But sometimes its really funny that they like to serveswestern chinese food here in a same meal.............

As a result of Typhoon Hagupit which hits Hong Kong yesterday, I got my self stranded in Taiwan yesterday for more than 5 hours awaiting my return flight to KL via Hong Kong . Imagine sitting there awaiting when you can go home is one of the most annoying thing which can happen to a traveller.

Check into Taoyuan International Airport Taipei at 0900am for my 1120am flight to Hong Kong for my connecting flight home by Cathay Pacific. While awaiting boarding we were told that the flight would be delayed to 130pm which left me wondering aimlessly in the airport. Finally we were told to board the waiting plane a little over 1pm. The worst is yet to come.........

While awaiting to take off to from Taipei, the Cathay Pacific's flight failed to get clearance to land in Hong Kong due to a recurrent typhoon and we were make to wait for another 2 hours in the plane !! Tensions flared in plane with some passengers started hurl abuses at the steward/dess on duty , as most of the over 300 hundred passengers in the 747 would end up missing their connecting flights back home . Poor thing as its none of their fault and yet they need entertain such a passenger.

Finally the plane took off at 330pm and scheduled to arrive at Honk Kong at 445pm. The typhoon was so bad that we need to abort 3 landing attempts and wasted 45 minutes circling the airspace of Hong Kong. Imagine a fully laden 747 rocks and sways by the wind !!! Finally we make it on the ground admist applause by passengers at 530pm !! Upon reaching the terminal I only found out that my connecting flight CX693 to KL was suppose to leave at 255pm was re-scheduled to 5pm..but it is already 545pm now! And I drag my self to the nearest Cathay transfer counter to get myself another connecting flight back.

Tempers flares are getting worst when a Taiwanese was hurling abuses at an off duty Cathay Pacific ground staff who was just passing thru the area. Despite abuses and scoldings from this unruly Taiwanese passenger , she managed to kept her cool and explained the whole situation to this passenger. Hats off to this SYT for handling the situation so professionally !! But Cathay Pacific also need to understand the situation, as hundreds of passengers missed their connecting flights and they only open 4 counters !!!! I myself waited more than 1 1/2 hours in line.

As the counter staff told me that there are no more flights out of HK to KL tonight as the last flight CX693 already left at 545pm !! And they decided to put me on the next available flight out of HK the next morning at 845am and offered me a night stay at a nearby hotel and HKD40 meal voucher. In my heart I am started to get angry now...you guys put me in all this mess all you do is to offer me a night stay plus HKD40 meal voucher ? Y so kiamsiap wan ?? What can u get for HKD40 now adays plus the voucher can only be used in the airport ?? Furthermore this stop in HK is unplanned and I dont even has a single HKD dollar with me . SO expect me to eat what ??

Finally the counter staff only managed to check that the earlier CX693 didnt leave HK after all because of some technical problems and wouldnt leave till 8pm !! Mind you its 730pm at that time and I have to run like a mad man across the airport just to be in the gate by 8pm !!

Finally after much delay we manage to leave HK at 830pm and reach KL at 1130pm. And guess what my bad luck never ends here as they didnt manage to check in my bag !!! Damm !! Luckily I am home...if this happen when I am on my way to Taiwan ..how ?????

Finally make it back home a 2am today.....alive. And my poor dad needs to fly to Hong Kong also today..which his flight was also delayed ......

Dunno who to blame ? The typhoon or Cathay ? WHy other flights can make it and not ours ??

Teresa Kok released from ISA detention !!!!

Seputeh MP Teresa Kok was released from detention under the Internal Security Act at about 1pm on today. Her father Kok Kim Tong and mother Poh Seh Kwon were at the Jalan Travers police station here when she was released.

According to Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar said that Kok had been released at 1.30pm after investigations showed there was no reason to detain her any further.

The Kinrara assemblyman and senior Selangor state executive councillor was detained one week ago, together with Malaysia Today editor Raja Petra Kamarudin and Sin Chew Daily reporter Tan Hoon Cheng.

Tan was released after 18 hours.

Kok was detained because she was considered a potential threat to national security for "racial incitement" after she was accused of petitioning a mosque to reduce the volume for azan (the call to prayer), something which she had vehemently denied.

The accusation surfaced in a Sept 10 article in Utusan Malaysia quoting former Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Khir Toyo.

The accusation was refuted by the Kinrara mosque committee chairman and Kota Raja MP Dr Siti Mariah had lodged a police report against Dr Mohd Khir on this issue.

Kok also lodged a police report against the Malay daily, its columnist Zaini Hassan and Dr Mohd Khir.

“I believe one of the excuses for my ISA detention is in relation to that article and I place Utusan Malaysia, Zaini Hassan and Dr Mohd Khir Toyo responsible for my arrest,” she had stated in her police report.

On Monday, Kok filed a habeas corpus application in the High Court for her release citing that her arrest and detention under the Internal Security Act was unlawful.

Sankara said then that the court had fixed Sept 23 for hearing but said they would apply for Sept 22 instead as he had another case and Karpal Singh would be in East Malaysia on that date.

Happy Mooncake Festival aka Mid-Autumm Festival

The time of the year has come again. A much waited time of the year for moon cakes fans like me !! This time is also knows as the mid-autumm festival , in the good old days where childrens and adults alike carry lanterns around ,which has since been substituted with battery operated ones.

What is the hidden meaning of this festival ? A quick search thru Wikipedia reveals this :-

The Mid-Autumn Festival (中秋節, zhōng qiū jié), also known as the Moon Festival, is a popular East Asian celebration of abundance and togetherness, dating back over 3,000 years to China's Zhou Dynasty.^{[dubious – discuss]} In Malaysia and Singapore, it is also sometimes referred to as the Lantern Festival or Mooncake Festival. The Chinese Lantern Festival is held on the 15th day of the first lunar month.

The Mid-Autumn Festival falls on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month of the Chinese calendar (usually around mid- or late-September in the Gregorian calendar), a date that parallels the Autumn Equinox of the solar calendar. The traditional food of this festival is the mooncake, of which there are many different varieties.

Penang Umno leader Ahmad Ismail, the man at the centre of the 'racial slur' controversy, warned Chinese Malaysians not to mimic American Jews who not only seek to control the country's economy but also its political power.

In an explosive 50-minute press conference, Ahmad who claimed time and again that he was not a racist, vowed that he would not apologise for his remarks which sparked the controversy.

"While it is not difficult to say sorry - for the sake of my Malay dignity, I resolve not to apologise no matter what others may say. I am willing to take the risk (for not doing so)," he said in a 14-page statement.

The press conference, which was held at the Penang Umno headquarters this afternoon, ended with shouts of 'Hidup Melayu' from about 50 local party leaders who were there.

Soon after the event, former Penang Umno committee member Zainol Abidin Hashim, with the help from his colleagues pulled down the photo of Gerakan acting president Dr Koh Tsu Koon which adorned one of the walls in the party headquarters.

Koh's picture frame, which sat next to the photos of the Penang governor and his wife, was subsequently smashed.

As the glass broke into pieces, Zainol removed Koh's photo from the frame and tore it into half.

Koh, who is former Penang chief minister, has been trading barbs with Ahmad, the Bukit Bendera Umno division chief, over the issue.

Ahmad: Take this as a warning

Earlier, Ahmad told the minority Chinese not to go overboard in hurting the feelings of the Malays and Muslims.

"I want them to know, I want them to take this as a warning from the Malays. Malays and Muslims have been provoked many times. We have been patient because we want to maintain stability in the country," he said.

"Remember! The patience of Malays and Muslims has its limits. Do not push us to the wall, where we will be forced to reject the Chinese for the sake of our survival.

"If what I say sounds too strong for BN, take this as a warning from the Malays and Muslims as this has nothing to do with Umno. Do not pressure Umno leaders until they are caught in a dilemma."

He then sounded a dire warning to Koh and Gerakan.

"I want Koh Tsu Koon and Gerakan to take responsibility for whatever untoward incidents that could happen in this country of ours."

Ahmad also called upon BN leaders to "kick Gerakan out" from the ruling coalition.

'PM asked me to hold this PC'

The Bukit Bendera Umno chief said that he was asked by Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to hold "another press conference".

Ahmad previously held a press conference last Friday in which he reiterated that he would not apologise for his remarks.

Abdullah (photo, right), who had earlier told the powerful local Umno leader to do so, was silent on the issue the next day when he met with Penang Umno leaders, including Ahmad.

Ahmad, who was backed by all 13 Umno divisions in Penang - Abdullah's home state - thanked the prime minister for his "understanding".

The controversy erupted after Ahmad had allegedly said that the "Chinese were immigrants squatting in this country" at a ceramah during the recent Permatang Pauh by-election campaign.

The speech caused Ahmad to come under heavy fire from Chinese-based political parties, particularly from Umno's allies MCA and Gerakan over the past two weeks. A spate of police reports were also lodged against the Umno division leader.

Ahmad nevertheless argued that his remark was taken out of context by Chinese-language Sin Chew Daily as he was referring to historical events.

At the press conference, Ahmad also urged the different states to hold a gathering of the whole ummah (Muslim community).

"Let us not let it go to waste as the flames of anger among Malays and Muslims has reached new heights. Let us take embrace this anger and come together as Malays and Muslims throughout the land so that we can turn the voices of the Malays into one that will unite all Malays and Muslims into one single movement."

In an immediate reaction, both Abdullah and Deputy Prime Minister Najib Razak are expected to meet Ahmad tomorrow. It is believed that action could be taken against the Umno leader.

Saw this in The Star today. Where is the freedom of speech in 'democratic' Malaysia ?? Is this an act to show power to a whistle blower who provided us with alternative news that shows the truth on what is going on everyday in our beloved " Bolehland' ???? IS this a way to stop us from knowing the real happenings in the country, other than what is wanted to be known by the ones above to the rakyats ?? Everyone knows the local medias are all filtered and has to adhere to certain guidelines.

All 21 Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in the country have been ordered by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to block the controversial Malaysia Today website, an industry source revealed.

The notices were sent out on Tuesday in accordance with Section 263 of the Communications and Multimedia Act.

“This means that MCMC is allowed to block any particular website which has committed acts that contravene the local laws of the country, for example, sedition,” the source said.

Meanwhile, Malaysia Today editor Raja Petra Kamaruddin lashed out against the blocking of the online portal, saying it was a breach of the Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) charter.

Under the MSC Malaysia 10-Point Bill of Guarantees, it is stated that as part of its commitment to ensuring the success of MSC Status companies, the Government promised to “ensure no Internet censorship”.

“The Government has clearly broken its own promise,” said Raja Petra yesterday. Asked whether he was notified of the reasons of the blocking, he answered no.

“I will turn this into a big issue, no doubt. When it is known that the Government has violated the charter, MSC will die. I will personally see to it,” he said.

TMnet, the country's biggest ISP, Maxis and Time refused to comment.

However, at 11.30pm, a check by The Star found that Malaysia Today has launched a mirror site which can be easily access.

Took this picture in Sentul's Business Centre, when i need to get down to get 'something' on a Saturday night at about 3am. Not even one soul is in sight !!!!! I waited like 5 minutes like a sochai outside calling out thatI wanted to buy something....all I get was just total silence.

Its been our family routine to visit this southern Thailand city each year for our annual prayers, but it's been quite sometime since we last went, due to the insurgence in Southern Thailand. This city is really famous for its shopping,good food and ofcoz u know what rite ?? Its also know as ' Mens Heaven' for its flesh trade.

The seats are comfortable and even comes with a personal entertainment with video on demand

We usually drive up,but this time we tried taking a bus for the 10 hours journey. Its really worth it giving its only cost RM60/way .

The Famous Wat Saikao, located about 30 minutes away from Hatyai.

Its headed by Acham Pan. A very senior monk who decicated his life to the monastery.

Fried Black striped, a speciality of Songkhla. Also knows as Chai Yu Chai in cantonese.

Shark fins are widely available in the streets.

Another must have for me is the roadside fried stuffs like quail, drumsticks,prawns and crabs

Kan Eng restaurant- Highly recommended !!

This famous family restaurant comes highly recommended in my must-do list each time we visit Hatyai. They serves authentic Thai dishes with a very affordable price. Just hop on any tuk tuk and tell them Kan Eng for an experience you would never regret !!

Befire the Battle of Edincourt in 1415, the French,anticipating victory over the English, proceed to cut off the middle fingers of all captured English soldiers. Without the middle finger it would be impossible to draw the renowned English longbow, therefore render them incapab;e of fighting in the future.

This famous English longbow was made out of the English Yew tree, and the act of drawing the longbow was knows as " Plucking the Yew " or " Pluck Yew".

Much to the bewildment of the French, the English won a major upset and began mocking the French by waving their middle fingers at the defeated French shouting " See we can still pluck yew !! " Since pluck yew , the difficult consonant cluster at the beginning has gradually changed to a labiodentals fricative "F", and thus the words often used in conjunction with the one finger salute.

It is also because the pheasant feathers on the arrows used with the longbow that the symbolic gesture is known as 'giving the bird' . It is still appropriate salute to the French today.

And yew thought yew knew every plucking thing !! Nah !!!

3) My car broke down in the middle of jam. Water temp kept rising, suspected water pump failure. As a result need to get a tow truck to tow to my friends workshop. Poorer by RM 130 , as of now for the tow truck charges........

With the rising cost of living..its time for me to DIY myself a set of art to be place in my new home..all for less than RM50 !!!!!

Its kinda hot now adays to have 3 in 1 painting where,3 arts when put together would form 1 single piece of art..and this are expensive !!! Well I've found out an ingenious way to fabricate my own designer art for a fraction of the price...............

You would need some wood and a staple gun. In this case its 24" x 16 " .

In this case, a cloth from IKEA would be my piece of art .

Staple the edge together. Remember to staple both side for rigidity

Put the frame on the cloth and measure the area to be cut.

To leave at least 2 inch space to be folded and stappled .

Stapple the edges together.

Remember to pull the edges tightly before stappling.

Trickiest part is to make sure that the 2nd piece matches the 1st piece !!

Deng Deng !! The final work !!!!

Imagine a pack of economy CKT, plus one fried foo chok with the tiniest hints of fish inside and 2 sausages , cost me a whooping RM6 !!!!!

DSAI was arrested at 1315hrs this afternoon outside his home in Bukit Segambut. I dont understand why DSAI was arrested even his dateline is 1400hrs ?? Why is he arrested when 'sp called crime' is not even committed yet ?

We could understand that he could be arrested if he didnt show up at IPKKL at 1400hrs as directed,but he still has 45 minutes before the dateline is over and if he was arrested at 1401 hrs. Would appreciste the cops that if they are so hot on the heals of the thousands of wanted criminals out there !!

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim arrived at the city police headquarters here in a white Pajero at 1.15pm Wednesday after being arrested by the police.

He had been arrested in front of his house in Bukit Segambut.

His lawyer Sankara Nair said the police told Anwar that he was being arrested for investigations under Section 377C of the Penal Code for alleged "carnal intercourse against the order of nature."

On June 28, his 23-year-old former aide Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan had lodged a police report alleging that Anwar had sodomised him.

Asked if Anwar was handcuffed, Sankara said he was not.

Anwar started giving his statement to the police at about 2.50pm, said another of his lawyers R. Sivarasa, also the Subang Member of Parliament (MP).

Anwar's wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said he had called her from the police car to say he had been arrested.

"He asked me to go home to look after the children," she said when met in Parliament lobby earlier Wednesday.

Wan Azizah was at the city police headquarters by 1.30pm, followed 25 minutes later by daughter Nurul Izzah and her husband Raja Ahmad Shahrir.

"It's a feeling of deja vu with what happened 10 years ago," Wan Azizah said, adding that she was unhappy over how the arrest had been conducted.

"We'd already given our assurance that he would be at the police headquarters at 2pm," she said.

Police said they arrested Anwar an hour earlier before the 2pm deadline because they feared he would not show up.

Federal CID director Comm Datuk Bakri Zinin said Anwar was supposed to have gone directly to the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters immediately after giving his statement to the ACA in Putrajaya.

"However, we were informed that after he left the ACA headquarters in Putrajaya, he had changed his route and was heading back to his house in (Bukit) Segambut," he said.

"He was arrested as we had reason to believe he was not going to show up," he claimed.

"We wish to point out that Anwar had initially agreed to meet us on Monday but he failed to keep his appointment," Comm Bakri added.

PKR members and about 200 supporters had gathered at the city police headquarters after news of the arrest went out.

"I don't believe this is happening. We will seek to get him released as soon as possible," said DAP chairman Karpal Singh.

DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang described the arrest as "highly provocative and shocking."

Balik Pulau MP Yusmadi Yusuf, who was there as Anwar's lawyer, said the matter would be brought up in Parliament.

The police had on Tuesday given Anwar a 2pm deadline to answer allegations of sodomy.

Anwar was at the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) headquarters in Putrajaya at 10am Wednesday over reports he had lodged against the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and the Attorney-General (A-G).

In his report lodged on July 1, Anwar had alleged that IGP Tan Sri Musa Hassan and A-G Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail had fabricated evidence in the “black eye” investigation in 1999.

Musa was the investigating officer and Abdul Gani led the prosecution in the case in which Anwar had been beaten up by the IGP then, Tan Sri Abdul Rahim Noor.

The two were questioned by the ACA on July 11.

Anwar left the ACA headquarters at 12.20pm.

He said the ACA had not completed its interview, but he had to cut it short to make his 2pm appointment with the police to answer questions over the sodomy allegation made against him.

"I have adduced all evidence to the ACA officers and I am satisfied with the line of questioning," he said, adding that everything he said had been recorded.

The interview was conducted by a few ACA officers, said Anwar, who arrived at the agency accompanied by lawyers Sankara, Sivarasa, Param Cumaraswamy and dozens of supporters.

"If I am arrested, I guess the ACA can do their follow-up interview at the lock-up," he joked.

This shop located along SS21/56B offers the same delicious famous salted baked chicken where even the hardcores of this delicacy would give his approval. The Whole chicken is wrapped together with Chinese herbs such as Dong Guai or and Gei Zhi (wolfberry) in one piece of greaseproof paper and baked in an oven covered and filled with heated coarse salt crystals. It is indeed is a brilliantly treated and cooked, the flesh is tender and very tasty. It is the process of cooking in which salt is absorbed by the meat to enhance the taste. The combination of salt and herbs gives the meat a unique flavor. With this unique cooking technique, the chicken essence is well preserved as well. All the chicken used here are slightly smaller in size due to it is Kampung chicken which is has less fat compared to normal chickens sold in the wet market. And the chicken is own bred in their family farm in Bukit Mertajam !!!

Killer tangy chilli sauce to dip..

There are some vital hints, request them not to chop up the chicken . To eat use your fingers instead to tear out the flesh or parts and it is perfect with some mixture of pounded chili, garlic, onion and lime sauce dipping sauce. Also do not forget to ask for their herbal soup !!

Peking Sui Kow

Also on offered are their delicious Szechuan Dan Dan mee. This noodle is served in a sourish hot broth with some minced meat. Also worth mentioning is their Sui Kow nooodle. Price is kept affordable with RM20 for one whole chicken and RM11 for half and sets are also available.

Full moon sets for newborns are also available with choice of 1 or 1/2 salted chicken with red eggs.

Parliament Dress Code : Too Short ??

Another amusing news from our Parliament is on the new dress ruling especially for women dressing .. check out this news taken from NST. An incident which involves a journalist from Kwong Wah Daily were barred from entering the Parliament yesterday by the security guards whom turned fashion police , because in their opinion her skirt is too short, when its already at knee length ?? Some were even asked to pull down their skirts by a few inches ?? Then the journalist with so called short skirts would turn out wearing a skirt ala rapper.

While traditional dress is allowed..I would suggest the reporters to try to wear this to Parliament and see what would happen ?? Well the length is way pass the knee length and its traditional clothings mar........deng deng deng........

Wantan Mee at Restoran Mee Wah,Bidor,Perak

Each time when I pass thru Bidor on my way up north, this is a must stop for me. No not at Pun Chun where everyone is flocking to for their wantan mee, duck thigh soup etc..I would prefer to head to this local eatery for some homemade wantan noodles,which in my opinion beats Pun Chun's wantan mee flat down , which was once claimed as the best you can find in this state. Maybe after years of popularity took its toll on its quality which has since detoriated so much lately.

This eatery is much lesser known than the infamous big brother of Bidor, Pun Chun, which puts Bidor into the maps of food connesiours around the country. But this place is a well kept secret of the local community here.

The wantan noodles are all homemade thus it retains the springy texture in every bites..which machined made noodles cant deliver . And the wantans are made fresh and each bites never fails to delivers satisfaction, thanks to the amount of fresh prawns versus pork in each wantans. They made their wantans just as the Hongkies made it, more prawns than pork in their wantans, unlike our local versions where its the opposite.

Try for your self....and you'll never regret !!

Directions : From PLUS highway exit thru Bidor. After paying the toll you would come to a T junction . Take a right turn. Go straight till you reach another traffic light with a KFC restaurant on your left( one and only you cant miss that !! ).
